Small Groups
What are Cell Groups?
Cell Groups are small home based groups that meet weekly or for specific periods (of not less than 6 weeks) to help people grow spiritually through study, sharing and praying together. They are certainly much more than just a Bible study group.
Each group has a leader and a host/hostess. The leader provides direction for the group and ensures the group remains in sync with cell group activities within the Parish and the host provides a private home in which the group meets. All groups are open to newcomers.
Why Have Them?
Home cell groups are the way in which people can meet with each other in one person's home, share what is happening in their lives, pray, learn with and from one another, and study the bible.
Home cell groups complement Sunday services. Sometimes the study topics connect with the previous Sunday's sermon.
Home cell groups are places of personal growth. They help to involve every member of the church in ministry. They can be means of facilitating the church's mission, reaching out to new people. Some groups are designed as special interest groups or cater for those who have attended Alpha courses.

We aim to provide practical and pastoral support, both to our members and the wider community. We develop and build our faith through bible study, prayer and good food.

Evening Cell Groups:
Tuesday
Julia Coleman - We meet on Tuesday nights from 7.30 to about 9.30pm at our home, 58 Nottingham St, Karori. There are about 10 of us. The age span is from 20's to 50's. We take turns leading and probably have an emphasis on fellowship (we have dinners at the drop of a hat), and service (we help out at Parents Alone) and seem to regularly cook for each other and others.

John Hughes - we meet on a Tuesday evening primarily at 24 Woodhouse Ave but we also meet in the homes of other group members. We focus on the study of Scripture, learning new ways of praying for our private devotions, prayer and sharing. We are a group of 11 ranging in age from thirties through to fifties – a mixture of couples and singles. We are currently working through Matthew’s Gospel using the visual Bible.

This includes prayer, in-depth Bible study, reflection on the development of different streams of theology within the Christian Church and the use of art to express spiritual concepts. The series beginning towards the end of June 2008 will look at the contribution of some of the saints of the church revealed in illuminated manuscripts, mosaics and sculpture and the use of art to facilitate meditation and prayer. A further series on Old Testament theology, in the contexts of both the Ancient Near East and the 21st century, is planned for the future.
