Makara Service 1 October
Seismic strengthening work has begun at St Matthias Church.  The October service will be held at St Patrick’s Community Church in Makara at 10 am.

Refugees Welcome
The next intake of refugees arrive in Wellington mid-October.  KAC has been asked by the Diocese to provide for a household of 6 persons.  Over the next two Sundays (1 and 8 October) please bring to church any items on the list on the clipboard you can provide.  Alternatively please contact Mike or Judy Scrivener 970 3069 or 021 255 4566 for pick up. 

If you would like to volunteer to help with sorting, delivery and/or house set up please contact Mike or Judy by no later than Sunday 8 October.

If you have taken KAC tea towels home to launder, thank you so much.  Please return them ASAP as we are a little short of them at the moment.

The pastoral freezer has had a real work-out over the past few months, providing meals for those in need in our community. Why not get together with your home group, huddle, friends or family and cook a few meals to re-stock the freezer? Contact Zoё in the Parish Office for containers and stickers.

We need someone to change the altar hangings as the church calendar changes.  Another person to oversee the gathering area kitchen.  You will need tact, the ability to organise, willingness to clean and you will get the last word on how the space runs!  Contact Zoё for more information.

Special General Meeting Results
The Special General Meeting of Karori Anglican Churches held Sunday
20 August 2017.  Results of two resolutions after voting: 
Resolution St Matthias:  It is resolved that this parish agrees to the expenditure (including that already spent on fees) of not more than $200,000 (exclusive of GST) on the earthquake strengthening and repair of St Matthias.  Provided there is no net demand on Parish funds beyond that available from grants and from donations specifically for that purpose from parishioners.  
Votes Yes:  74, votes  No: 2.
Resolution Connection Point Facility:  It is resolved that this Parish agree to the expenditure of not more than $75,000 (GST exclusive) on professional fees for the Preliminary Design work for the Connection Point Facility. 
Votes Yes:  75, votes  No: 1.

We Remember
It is with great sadness that we bring news that Neal Schofield died last week.  Neal’s funeral will be held at St Mary’s, Tuesday, 12 September, 11 am.  Please keep Verna and their family in your prayers.

Need a visit or a chat? 
Here are two options this week: 
Wendy would love to visit you.  She has a calendar on a clipboard.  Just pick a time and she will pop in for a chat and pray with you.  Working?  No problem she will come to you on your lunch break.  These times don’t work for you?  Just give her a call or email her to set up a time that suits.

Wendy will also be down at Café on the Square (beside the Library) this Tuesday from 3.30 pm.  Do drop by have a coffee and speak with her.

Love n Stitches
Meet 2nd Saturday of each month 1.30—4 pm in the Office kitchen.  They are currently making knitted rugs and teddy bears but would love to do more and with more people.  Everybody is welcome who can or wants to learn to knit, crochet.  Just bring a good sense of humour and caring for others.  For more info contact Janet Wilson 476 7327 or Jenny Spiers 938 7716

Rebuilding Maniava
The KAC Missions Committee has decided to support the rebuilding of the village of Maniava in northeast Viti Levu, Fiji.  They lost 35 out of 37 homes in Tropical Cyclone WINSTON early 2016 and are doing the rebuild as money becomes available.  We have a sum of $684 was being held in the event of another cyclone before the end of this year but it has been decided to send this money now to Fiji to support the buying of building materials for Maniava.
