Baptisms Today

Evensong Service Tonight

Every Sunday, 10.30 am, KAC Youth Lounge
High school aged youth—study time during the 10:30 am service.  We will gather together with the rest of the church for worship but will leave with the Sunday School crew and head over to the offices for a weekly study and then re-join the church for communion.

John’s Open Office
John will be away for the next two weeks so his open office will not be happening.  His first one when he gets back will be 21 June.

Tower Strengthening Work
Wellington City Council has approved the building consent for strengthening work on St Mary’s Tower and our contractor will start on 7 June.  It is intended, and has been assessed as safe, to keep using the rest of St Mary’s over the four weeks the work takes.  Between now and the start date we will be working with the groups that use St Mary’s to confirm how we can clear the area needed and how they can keep using St Mary’s as work proceeds.  Thank you for your ongoing support of this important strengthening work.   
Property Sub Committee

Welcome lunch for Luke and Ian and their families.  Sunday 12 June following the 10.30 service.  Bring a plate of food to share and come down to 74 Friend St, for some time to catch up with each other and eat!  If you can only pop in for a short while, it would still be lovely to see you.  The plan is to have a bouncy castle for the kids too!!!

Cursillo Weekends

Cursillo is a movement of the Church, with its own method that helps Christians learn and live what is fundamental to being a Christian. And having done that, to help these same Christians discover and live out a personal vocation.  

The three day weekends are an opportunity to live for a short time in Christian community, distancing yourself from the pressures of the outside world.

We are moving to a new system for rosters.  You will be advised by email of the dates and duties you are rostered for, and will be reminded the week before you are rostered.  As is always the case with anything new there are likely to be a few teething problems so please be kind.

City Mission Food Basket
Two weeks worth of food was delivered last week estimated at $67.  Please remember to bring a contribution - particularly needed are canned meals and muesli bars.  All non-perishable items welcome.

One Service Next Sunday 10 am
Next Sunday is a fifth Sunday and we will be celebrating together at 10 am.  After the service we encourage you to invite someone to your home for a meal or afternoon tea and practise generous hospitality together.  So who will you invite?

Pink Ribbon Pancake Breakfast
As a way of integrating our church and SMASH communities the SMASH club children are hosting a Pink Ribbon Pancake Breakfast on Friday 27 May here in the church. This is to support the Breast Cancer Foundation.  You are warmly invited to attend from 7.15 am till 8.30 am.  Tickets cost $5 but all further donations will be gratefully received.

As part of our 5th Sunday and incorporating the "Generous Hospitality" theme, we also ask for volunteers from KAC to help us host this very worthwhile event.  We simply need help serving the breakfast (which will be already-made pancakes, tea and coffee.)

YOUTH ALPHA
Friday 20 May, 7 pm, Church Hall, high school aged youth
The second Alpha session we will be looking at the death and resurrection of Jesus.  Why did Jesus die?  Did Jesus have to die?  What impact does the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus have on me?  Join us as we watch a 20 minute movie about this and then begin to discuss what all of this means to us.  As always, there will also be awesome hangout times, games and food. 

Parenting Tween and Teen Years

The teenage years can be like riding a roller coaster.  Toolbox aims to take out a few of the nastier twists and turns on the track, and also to help parents hold on and enjoy the ride.  While these years can be challenging, they can actually be some of the best years of your life - and theirs!
