Diocesan Hui
The Diocesan Hui (Our Family Reunion!) is on Parihaka Day, 5 November 2016, from 10 am to mid-afternoon.  Together we will celebrate, worship, tell stories, and cross-pollinate.  We’ll explore the three 2017 Diocesan themes:  Our Transforming God/Discipleship, Reducing Carbon Emissions/Climate Change, and Child Poverty.  

There will also be a screening of the film Taterakihi, which tells the story of Parihaka.  ALL are invited to the Wellington Cathedral for our annual family-friendly Hui. 

Infoodle Roster Training
We’re holding two training sessions on using your rosters on Infoodle:  --13 November after the 10.30 service  and 19 November at 11 am.  We will meet in the church so we can use the big screens.  All people who are on rosters and need to use Infoodle are invited to attend.

Annual Bishop’s Golf Day
The Annual Bishop’s Golf Day, playing for the Danny Te Hiko Memorial Cup, will be held at the Levin Golf Club, 11 November.  Tee off times 9.30 am onwards.  Cost $20.00 each per round.  If you’re interested in joining Bishop Justin for an eventful day or for more information, email Brenda Callear bcallear@orcon.net.nz or 233 8244.

Sunday Kids Ministry Naming Competition
We are looking for some inspiration in the renaming of our programme (previously known as Sunday School)!  Get your creative juices flowing and email Kate, at harveygreenfamily@gmail.com with your suggestions.  Prizes include movie tickets and jar of sweets! Entries welcome from kids and adults.  Send in as many ideas as you want before the 31 October.

John’s Open Office
John will be away from the office next week, so there will be no open office on 18 October.

Earthquake Status of the Church
People have been asking whether we can go back to using the sanctuary now that the tower is strengthened.  The answer is NO!  

The sanctuary and the choir vestry are now the most vulnerable parts of the building.  “the choir vestry should not be used for choir practices and the sanctuary entered sparingly”.

NEW WINE SUMMER FESTIVAL Kapiti—19 to 23 JANUARY 2017
“Your Love Cries Out. ….because your love is better than life.”  Ps 63

This is our church camp and there is a programme for all ages 0-99!  The Kapiti summer festival is about our community coming together, getting to know one another, laughing, worshipping, becoming equipped for the year ahead where together we seek to see God’s kingdom in our everyday lives.

Register now:  newwine.org.nz/summer-festivals.  Early bird prices close 30 November, the maximum cost for families amount has dropped to $480.  Also complete one of our forms to let us know that you are coming and to register for meals.
Accommodation
We have some accommodation available at a Holiday Home KAC has booked.  Contact Wendy Davidson.

Evensong Service Tonight

John Carter died on 28 September.  His funeral will be Tuesday 4 October at 11am.  Please keep John’s friends and family in our prayers.

Refugees
Thank you for for the generous response for the refugee couple arriving in mid October.  Items still needed are:  
Crockery setting (dinner plates, side plates, bowls) x 4
Cooking utensils—spatula, fish slice, grater, kitchen knives, chopping boards x 1 set, Microwave x 1, Small rubbish bin for bathroom x 1
Larder items: Canned foods (no meat) e.g. Soups, vegetables, fruit.  Herbs and spices, Eggs (tray)
Goods donated may be brought to church by noon, Sunday 9 October.  
If you can help with any of these, need goods to be collected, or wish to contribute money towards them, see Mike or Judy Scrivener after the service or mikejudy@paradise.net.nz  or 970 3069.
